For our youngest scholars, the high school students can sometimes seem like celebrities. They are the ones they see shining on stage every spring in the musical, starring on the field at the Wolvarena, or coming into their classrooms to read a favorite book.
On October 30, our kindergartners forged a special bond with the seniors. The Class of 2025 met with the Class of 2037 on the field at the Wolvarena to launch a new tradition. The idea came from board vice president and retired Woodland Hills teacher Ms. Laura Arthrell, who saw another school do something similar in a video online. With the help of the high school and elementary school principals and staff, as well as student leaders Troy Akins and SaNaya Lee, the senior class was able to present the kindergartners with a gift bag that included a small teddy bear and a special note that included contact information so that they can stay in touch.
Each kindergarten student will have a senior student who will serve as a mentor for the rest of the year. The senior class will also visit each elementary school before graduation and walk through the halls to help inspire the younger students of what they can achieve.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Once a Wolverine, always a Wolverine!
