Message from the superintendent - Sunday, September 8

Wolverine Family,

Last evening, close to midnight, a social media post was made about a possible school shooting threat at a school named Edgewood High School. The Pennsylvania State Police quickly responded and traced the social media threat to Fayette County. The social media post is now down, but the screenshots are in the possession of the police.

I was contacted this morning by the Edgewood Police Department, who wanted to give me this information since Edgewood Elementary School was formally Edgewood High School. In their opinion, they do not feel there is any threat to Edgewood Elementary School and no credible threat to the Woodland Hills School District.

In an abundance of caution, I wanted to inform you of this activity and also let you know that we will have an increased police and security presence at Edgewood Elementary School tomorrow.

Again, no threat has been identified against Edgewood Elementary School or Woodland Hills School District.

Thank you to the Pennsylvania State Police and the Edgewood Police Department for their swift and thorough investigative work on this matter.

Dr. Daniel Castagna
Superintendent
